Mike Isberto

Who are you?
Hi, I’m Mike. I’m a storyteller rooted in art and culture. I spent a decade as a songwriter, and that same love for storytelling lives on through A Refined Curatorial, a digital publication I started exploring the overlooked artistry and stories in art, music, sport, food and drink, fashion and style. My aim is to help shift perspectives and to better honor the intersections that shape culture.
From that foundation, I created Roosevelt Wine Club. It started with a few friends walking twilight rounds and passing bottles between swings, but it’s grown into something deeper—a community. We’re reimagining what wine and golf can look like when they’re grounded in inclusivity.
Rosey is an extension of that energy. It’s more than clothing and accessories, it’s a reflection of the people, places, and spirit that brought us here. At the heart of everything I do is a desire to build spaces where people feel, and know, they belong.

What’s golf to you?
It’s one of the rare spaces where people from completely different worlds can find connection. A few shared swings, and strangers become friends.
Every Friday at Roosevelt, I see how golf brings people together. In a city, like LA, that often feels like everyone is moving at their own pace, golf becomes a meeting ground, an open invitation to slow down and connect with community. That’s the spirit behind Roosevelt Wine Club. It’s about community, connection, and people.
Like wine, golf has long carried an air of exclusivity. But I believe both can be reimagined into inclusive spaces that welcome everyone.
For me, golf isn’t just a game, it’s a way to reconnect with the land, with each other, and with ourselves.

Target handicap?
I don’t really keep score. I play for the walks, the stories, the community, and the connection that comes with being outside with good people. For me, golf has always been more about the people than the numbers.

Favorite golf course?
Rosey in Griffith Park. It feels like home and where this community started. A close second is Wailua in Lihue. My wife and I spend the last couple weeks of every year, on Kauai, and Wailua has that same spirit I love about Rosey. A small, laid-back muni, full of character, and is inclusive to everyone. I don’t need a fancy course. I just love when golf spaces are welcoming to all. That’s what both Roosevelt and Wailua represent to me.

Favorite item in your bag?
My 60 degree is probably my favorite club. But what really stands out is the back pocket of my Jones bag. It’s filled with old wine corks from past RWC rounds. I’m reminded of all of the moments and memories we’ve made every week, the community that continues to grow, and the people who make this all possible. The wine corks are my favorite things in the bag because they remind me why we show up week after week.

Shoutouts?
Big shoutout to the incredible Roosevelt Wine Club community. We’ve created something truly special. A safe, fun, and meaningful space where all are welcome, and I’m grateful for every Friday we get to spend together. Thank you for building with me and believing in the vision.
To the Ryans, Spoety, Estef, RDB, Beau, Marvin, Jennifer, Terrence, Galvin, Zamir, Adam, Ben, John, Clay, Chris, JonMarc, Rocco, Thomas, and so many more, you’re all legends.

Whether you’ve shared many moments with us or are still finding your way to do so, this is for you. The invitation is open. Everyone’s invited. Always.
