Who are you?
My name is Julius Oppenheimer and I handle editorial and social at Hypegolf, Hypebeast’s golf-focused vertical.
What’s golf to you?
Golf has meant different things to me at different stages of my life. When I first got hooked on the game as a teenager, it was a way for me to get out by myself and connect with nature. As I worked on my game and started getting better, it became more about the competition. Now in this phase it’s all about community. Because of golf and my profession, I’ve been able to forge so many new friendships and connections, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Target handicap?
Getting back to a plus handicap would be amazing.
Favorite golf course?
Bethpage Black for me is the pinnacle of golf in the United States. It’s the people’s country club, and I’ll never forget that rush of adrenaline the first time I scored a tee time with the dial-in reservation system.
Favorite item in your bag?
Sunscreen. I love all my clubs too much to choose one.

Shoutout to my mom, dad and brothers, who have consistently supported and inspired my passion for golf, and to everyone at @hypegolf. I truly believe this new movement in golf has staying power and I feel fortunate to be a small part of it.
